Week 9 NFL Picks

Against the Spread Cowboys at Falcons (-3.5) The Cowboys are 26th in rushing defense. They will have a very hard time stopping Bijan Robinson. Their pass defense without Micah Parsons isn't much to speak of either. Take the Falcons. Pick: Falcons -3.5

Week 7 NFL Picks

As usual we're going to pick our three best bets against the spread, a money-line, and a total.  Against the Spread Lions at Vikings (-1.5) The Vikings have had the best defense in the NFL but their defensive line won't be able to hold up against the Lions offensive line. Take the Lions and the points. Pick: Lions +1.5

Week 6 NFL Picks

As usual we're going to pick our three best bets against the spread, a money-line, and a total.  Against the Spread Jaguars at Bears (-1) Caleb Williams is getting into a groove in the NFL and the Jaguars are really playing bad football this year. I'd feel a bit better about the Bears if their offensive line were playing a little better but their defense has been kicking ass. Pick: Bears -1

Week 5 NFL Picks

As usual we're going to pick our three best bets against the spread, a money-line, and a total.  Against the Spread Bills at Texans (-1) The Bills got toasted by Derek Henry and Lamar Jackson but the Texans average 1.2 yards per carry less than the Ravens. Bills get back on track. Pick: Bills +1

Week 4 NFL Picks

As usual we're going to pick our three best bets against the spread, a money-line, and a total.  Against the Spread Vikings at Packers (-2.5) Brian Flores defense is complex and hard to defend. If anyone can scheme up and execute a good game plan against it, it's Matt LaFleur and Jordan Love, but with his knee injury  Love won't be as mobile. The Packers are thin at CB with Jaire Alexander unlikely to play. With the Packers favored, this is a no-brainer. Pick: Vikings + 2.5

Week 1 NFL Picks

Week 1 can be weird. Lots of teams have new coaches, coordinators, and QB, so there will. be lots of unscouted looks. Lots of teams sit their starters in the pre-season, so they may be rusty. Or maybe not. With that said, we're going to pick our three best bets against the spread, a money-line, and a total anyway. Against the Spread Rams at Lions (-4.5) Two of the NFC's best teams face off in prime time. Both offenses are great. The Rams lost the best defensive player in football while the Lions added to the secondary and defensive line. Will the Rams young defensive linemen Braden Fiske, Kobie Turner, Byron Young, and Jared Verse be able to hold up against the best offensive line in football and get pressure on Goffe? I say no. Pick: Lions

2024 NFL Draft First Round Picks

Overall Pick 2: J.J. McCarthy (+1000) First off, let me say that I expect pick 2 to be Jayden Daniels, but at -600, there is so little juice for the squeeze. Not worth it. The McCarthy payoff is pretty good. He has underrated tools. Moreover, he almost certainly crushed the "Top Golf" event that the Commies hosted. First Defensive Lineman/Edge Drafted: Byron Murphy (+280) Murphy is the best defensive lineman in this draft. Dallas Turner is a good player but he isn't special. Murphy is. Murphy certainly isn't Aaron Donald, so that talk needs to stop, but he might be 95% of Quinnen Williams. And folks, that's pretty damned special. Turner will be a 8.5 sack a year guy for a long time. But so will Murphy and that's so much more impressive and disruptive on the interior. It does give me pause that the Falcons pick at 8 and need edge worse than tackle but there is a good chance they'll trade out and if they stay, they may take Murphy anyway. In any case, Murphy...
