Week 1 NFL Picks
Week 1 can be weird. Lots of teams have new coaches, coordinators, and QB, so there will. be lots of unscouted looks. Lots of teams sit their starters in the pre-season, so they may be rusty. Or maybe not. With that said, we're going to pick our three best bets against the spread, a money-line, and a total anyway.
Against the Spread
Rams at Lions (-4.5)
Two of the NFC's best teams face off in prime time. Both offenses are great. The Rams lost the best defensive player in football while the Lions added to the secondary and defensive line. Will the Rams young defensive linemen Braden Fiske, Kobie Turner, Byron Young, and Jared Verse be able to hold up against the best offensive line in football and get pressure on Goffe? I say no.
Pick: Lions
Titans at Bears (-4)
The Titans made some big defensive acquisitions and shored up their offensive line. The Bears improved their stable of wideouts and added the best QB prospect since Andrew Luck. The Bears win this big.
Pick: Bears
Cardinals at Bills (-6.5)
The Bills have the best QB not named Mahomes (Lamar is close) and the defensive infrastructure of Sean McDermott but the Cardinals have Kyler back and the best, mpst pro-ready WR prospect in a long time. They've made some improvements on defense and on their offensive line. I think they keep it close.
Pick: Cardinals
Money Line
Steelers (+154) at Falcons (-185)
The Falcons have a much better QB in Kirk Cousins and one of the best WR/RB/TE trios in London/Bijan/Pitts. But Steelers have one of the best defenses in football. Mike Tomlin gets his team to put up a fight every time they take the field. And Arthur Smith will put up the best gameplan he every has in his Steelers debut.
Pick: Steelers
Total
The Colts offense matches up very well with the Texans with the two headed running attack of Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor. Meanwhile the Texans have CJ Stroud and one of the best WR rooms in the NFL I expect them to pick apart Gus Bradley's vanilla defense. 48.5 is a big number but I think these offenses can top it.
